School of my dream

My name is Mary. I live in Moscow and study at the 8th grade. I like my school, but I believe some things can be changed. Some of the lessons are boring and there is too much homework.

So if I were the principal of my school, my first step would be cancelling homework. I hate spending my evenings solving mathematical problems and reading textbooks. After that, I would make the breaks between the lessons longer. We don`t always have enough time to relax or to have a snack. The school canteen menu also needs improvement, the food here is not healthy. There are mostly pies and chocolates. We want to eat soups, vegetables and fruits.

The autumn and spring holidays aren`t long enough for us to enjoy them. If they were longer we would be able to travel abroad or, for example, visit our grandparents in another city.

My favourite lesson is Literature. My friends like maths, biology and chemistry. So I would let every student decide what subjects to study. This way we would have more practice for our future professions. And the lessons should be more interactive. We should use new technologies, make projects, have discussions and play educational games.

Now there are 30 students in my class, that is why we don`t always get the teacher`s attention. In my perfect school, there would be not more than 10 students in the lesson. The teachers would be friendly, kind and experienced.

In my ideal school, we would also celebrate holidays together, have excursions, attend exhibitions, theatre and places of interest. It is important to study the history of our city, broaden the mind of the students. Having these events is good for building a friendly atmosphere in the class.

Primary and secondary school is a very important part of every person’s life. 6 and 16 years, a child grows up and gets prepared for the adult life. Boys and girls learn how to read and write, do sums and write compositions. They also acquire some knowledge of the world history, biology, physics, chemistry and geography. The best poems and novels trigger strong emotions. Prominent achievements in labor, music and physical training lessons are remembered all life.

Within ten years, , people find friends and fall in love. They learn how to behave correctly in the society and master etiquette norms. From a young age, children know how to cross the road and not to get sunstroke in summer. They understand why it is important to respect parents and teachers. The school is usually associated with the lessons, discipline, homework, classmates, and school meals.

A modern education system is quite efficient. Nevertheless, is far from being ideal. Buildings and furniture become deteriorated and they are not comfortable enough. Equipment and visual aids are getting outdated. School programs are complicated and some subjects are not interesting. The main focus is made on the development of linguistic and mathematical abilities. School meals are not tasty and the uniform is not elegant. Some teachers do not love their profession, they are either aggressive or lack willpower. Low salaries are not motivating and the work conditions are not inspiring.

Современная система образования является достаточно эффективной. Но она далеко не идеальна. Здания и мебель становятся обветшалыми и недостаточно удобными. Оборудование и наглядные пособия устаревают. Школьная программа сложная, а некоторые предметы неинтересные. Основной акцент делается на развитие языковых и математических способностей. Школьные обеды невкусные. Некоторые учителя не любят свою профессию, они ведут себя слишком агрессивно или проявляют безволие. Низкие зарплаты не мотивируют, а условия работы не вдохновляют.

I hope that in the future the attitude to school will be different. People will have a strong belief that children are the most valuable “human capital” and that education is the most attractive sector for investments! A schoolteacher will become the most prestigious profession. The competition will be very strong and the selection of candidates will be fair and transparent. Only a talented, wise, kind and intelligent person will be able to get an employment in school. Schoolteachers will be honored and respected by everyone. Their remuneration will be much higher than in any commercial sector.

Children will consider their school the best place on the planet! They will enjoy every school subject and they will put all their efforts to learn more. All study and upbringing processes will be based on mutual respect and trust. A school uniform will be elegant and comfortable. All students will love their school so much that they will be happy to stay there any extra minute!

An individual approach to every child will be the main principle. Mental and physical abilities, interests and cultural peculiarities will be taken in consideration. School programs will be diversified and involve development of multiple intelligences. Nowadays, the process of acquiring knowledge is mainly based on the use of vision and hearing organs, vocal apparatus and handwriting. But in the future, teachers will also use the organs of smell and taste as well as the kinesthetic system. For example, a pleasant flavor and taste of a strawberry will help to memorize the correct spelling of this word in a foreign language. Children will learn through action-oriented games, role-playing, miming, craftwork, painting, singing and dancing as well. Every one will have the possibility to expose his or her best abilities and get the adequate assessment and acknowledgement.

Индивидуальный подход к каждому ребенку будет главным принципом. Учитываться будут умственные и физические способности, интересы и культурные особенности. Школьная программа будет разнообразной, а также направлена на развитие разных навыков. В настоящее время процесс приобретения знаний главным образом основан на задействовании органов зрения и слуха, речевого аппарата и рукописи. Но в будущем учителя также будут использовать органы обоняния и вкуса, а также кинестетическую систему. Furthermore, only modern buildings with light and spacious classrooms, gyms and canteens will be used for schools. Ergonomic furniture, colorful visual aids, good lightening and green plants will make students’ staying at school comfortable and enjoyable.

Далее, только современные здания со светлыми и просторными классными комнатами, спортивными залами, столовыми будут использоваться для школ. Эргономичная мебель, красочные наглядные пособия, хорошее освещение и зеленые растения сделают пребывание учеников в школе комфортным и приятным.

All equipment will be only up-to-date. Moreover, all software and hardware will be regularly updated by the best information technology companies. In the center of the room there will be an interactive board, which works on the principle of holographic projection. Smaller boards will be in every corner of the classroom. Each student will have an individual computer integrated in the class intranet. Heavy textbooks and massive school available only in the “museums of ancient times ”.

Introduction

School plays an important role in everyone`s life. School is a place where students spend a lot of time. Here they study to count, to read and to write. Besides, school is a place where you make friends and learn about people as well as subjects. And we think, it’s a place which helps you (everyone) to find a good job in future. Therefore we decided to find out what ideal school should be.

The subject of investigation is: a perfect school.

The object of our investigation is: building, timetable, school uniform, canteen, classrooms, gym, school rules.

2. The main part.

1 . Outside and inside of the perfect school.

Everyone from us would like to have perfect or ideal school. The school, where you can have a rest and where it is fun. The ideal school is the dream of every student. Our ideal school is near the city center. It is a modern three-storey building of a typical design. There would be a lift to take us up.

Behind the school there should be a big garden with beautiful flower-beds, bushes and fruit trees and a small zoo where students of our school can take care of animals.

When you enter the building you can see a large hall with lots of plants and benches inside. On the left there is a large and state-of-the-art canteen with modern furniture.

The cloak room should be on the ground floor. On the ground floor we would like to have an olympic swimming pool with an aqua park where students can swim and have a rest.

There would be a computer room, music room, recording studio, language laboratory, dance studio and football pitch. The teacher’s room would be much bigger than the one we have now. It would be light and cosy. There would also be a big library.

The classrooms, the laboratories, the doctor’s office, the library, the teachers’ room are situated on the upper floors. On the walls of the corridors you can see beautiful landscapes, pictures of famous scientists, writers and other outstanding people of our country. There are light curtains on the windows and many pots with flowers on window sills. The halls would be very big, about 40 metres long and 30 metres wide and are full of sunlight. There are many different special classrooms for the classes of Physics, Chemistry, English, Geography and Biology. They have high quality projectors, schemes and tables on the walls.

In every the classroom there is the tactile board, which everyone can use, 30 desks with a comfortable chairs, good lighting the room.

Also we want to have more modern technologies in every classroom. We would like to have a room, where it’s possible to search necessary information in the Internet. The ideal school should be more comfortable. There are small sofas and chairs in the school halls.

2.The ideal timetable.

The lessons would be interesting. An ideal school should begin at 10 o"clock. Instead of books, every student has got a laptop with access to Internet. The students have not got any homework. They have got optional activities and sports clubs.

We want to pay attention to perfect timetable. We would like or five lessons every day . Students should study the subjects they really enjoy: Physical Education , Literature, Biology, Russian language, History, Physics , Technology, Geography. They shouldn’t worry about tests and marks. Certainly pupils should choose necessary subjects which help them to get education and make successful career.

The breaks should be longer than now. It is necessary that all students of our school and teachers have enough time to have lunch in our dinning room. Besides, we would like to have more sections or additional for example: swimming, karate, photo club, dancing club and additional occupations on Algebra and Russian.

3.School uniform.

School uniform is an integral part of school life in many countries. Most schools in Russia also require school uniforms. However, some school accept freestyle outfit. There are different opinions on how the standard school forms should look like. We support the idea of wearing a school uniform. We think that at home we can put on what we want, but at school we need to follow the rules. But our school uniform is different from ours. The ideal school uniform for girls consists of a red dress and white shoes and for boys consists of a white shirt , black trousers and black shoes.

4.Code of conduct.

We would like to have some rules in our ideal school. The discipline should be strict but there are not punishments. We’d like our teachers and students to treat each other with more respect. Teachers talk to the students as if they are grown-ups, individuals. The rules in school should be democratic: neither strict nor too free. So we would like to have such rules:

3 Be polite

4 Do not waste your time

5 Be quiet around the school

6 Think safety first

7 Use entrances and exits properly

8 Use toilets properly

9 Keep valuables at home

5. Canteen.

The another important thing in our ideal school is our food and our canteen. The canteen would be much bigger than the one we have now. We would like to have modern furniture in our canteen. The food in the canteen should be cheaper and tastier than it is now The school meals would have different food every day.

We’d like to have such menu for every day.

Every weekend we would like to have trips to countryside and then have competitions in stadium o r other places.

3.Conclusion.

In the result of our investigation we tried to create the ideal school. We believe that ideal school is a school where there are classes you don’t want to miss, and when during the holidays you miss your classmates and teachers. We

An ideal school would have a swimming pool. The playgrounds would be separate, one for the young children and the other for the senior forms. A wall would be separating them and there would be a door from one playground to the other.

The classrooms would have carpets instead of lino. The desks would be painted and the chairs would have cushions. The chairs would also be painted.

There would be a computer on every table in the classroom. There would be at least 12 videos for each classroom. The hall would be very big, about 40 metres long and 30 metres wide.

The lessons would be interesting. There would be lots of French and German and English.

There would be four floors. There would be a lift to take us up. The staffroom would be much bigger than the one we have now.

It would be light and cosy. There would also be a big library. There would be a lot of musical instruments: flutes, guitars, drums, etc.There would be lots of visits to concerts and parks.

The tests would be easier for children.

В идеальной школе был бы плавательный бассейн. Площадки были бы отдельными: одна - для младших школьников, а другая - для старшеклассников. Их бы разделяла стена с дверью.

В классных комнатах вместо линолеума лежали бы ковры. Парты были бы разукрашены, а на стульях были бы подушки. Стулья тоже были бы разукрашенными.

На каждом столе был бы компьютер. В каждой классной комнате было бы, по меньшей мере, двенадцать видеомагнитофонов. Коридор был бы очень большой: около 40 м в длину и 30 м в ширину.

Уроки были бы интересными. Проводилось бы много уроков французского, немецкого и английского.

Школа была бы четырехэтажной. В ней был бы лифт, чтобы подниматься вверх. Учительская была бы намного больше, чем сейчас.

Она была бы светлой и уютной. В школе была бы большая библиотека, много музыкальных инструментов: флейты, гитары, барабаны и т. д. Организовывались бы посещения концертов, парков.

Контрольные были бы легче.
