In the 2006 sequel, lovers become outcasts and destroy their ancestors - the original vampire and werewolf Marcus and Wilhelm Corvinus. In theory, now they have no forgiveness for a thousand years. Then we lose sight of Beckinsale and watch the 13th century showdown prequel ...

In 2012, Celine "awakens". After a war with people and a long freeze in a cryocapsule, she searches for Michael, but finds her 12-year-old daughter Eva, whose blood is being hunted by the lycans to become more powerful and destroy the bloodsuckers. Rescuing the girl, Celine meets the head of the vampire coven Thomas, played by Charles Dance (Tywin Lanister from Game of Thrones), and his son David (Theo James, Divergent).

But at the pier, an ambush awaits them and opens fire on the vampire and the hybrid. During the shootout, Michael is seriously wounded by a silver shell and falls into the water. Celine rushes after him. A grenade falls into the water, which explodes, throwing Celine and Michael in different directions.

Time passes. Celine, while naked, awakens in the freezer designated "Object 1". The vampire is free and sees her things and the corpse of a man in medical clothes. Recovering, she dresses and, in front of Dr. Lane, leaves the room of the building that turned out to be the Antigen laboratory, where her Lycan workers are trying to find a vaccine to detect immunity to silver. Celine notices a lab worker and kills him, then walks through a chaotic building. However, Eve takes on hybrid form and rips the werewolf's head in half in a rage. However, she gets worse, and David takes the mother and daughter to the underground vampire hideout "Coven", hidden near the city dam. The coven is ruled by David's father, an old vampire named Thomas, and he is not happy with unexpected guests.

She plows a hole in the cell and engages in battle with the werewolf, falling with him to the bottom of the opening through which the elevators ride. The werewolf is killed, but Celine miraculously survives after Quint crashes the elevator car on her, cutting the cables with his claws.

At this time, Eve is loaded into a van and tried to take away. But the detective gets in the way of Dr. Lane and shoots through the tire of the van, and Celine arrives in time, knocks him over and kills Jacob's people. The vampire tries to free Eve, but Quint stands in her way in the guise of a wolf. At the same time, Lane tries to stop the detective, but Eve wakes up, frees herself from the bonds and becomes a hybrid. The doctor takes the form of a wolf and engages in battle with his daughter Celine. Although Eve receives help in the form of David, who wounds Lane with a gun, and he himself enters into a successful battle with the guards.

The case ends with Eve killing the doctor by ripping out his larynx and part of his neck. At the same time, Sebastian comes to his senses and leaves the parking lot, while Celine defeats Quint. The vampire runs, accompanied by David and Eve, to Michael, but discovers an empty freezer. However, her daughter sees through the eyes of Michael, who climbed onto the roof of the building. Celine and her daughter, accompanied by David, climb after the helipad, but the descendant of Alexander Corvinus is no longer there.

In the epilogue, Celine and her daughter hold hands. She says that the world will become theirs. At this moment, a helicopter flies past the building.

By all indications, Underworld 4 was not supposed to be born. Judge for yourself: the first film (Another World, 2003) is original, unexpected, fresh, like many bright cinema discoveries of the early 2000s, by the end of the decade replicated in endless self-repetitions. The second film ("Underworld: Evolution", 2006) - according to the laws of filmmaking, chaotic, noisy, redundant, and disappearing without a trace from memory - a direct continuation with the appearance of all the main characters of the original. Triquel ("Underworld: Rise of the Lycans", 2009) is a classic prequel, filmed, rather by inertia, with the replacement of the director and the main star, but retaining several episodic characters (Bill Nighy, who stubbornly appeared in all three tapes, and despite to a convincing death in the very first film). The prequel box office was hardly impressive. So there was simply nowhere to continue the story further.

However, with the beginning of the new decade, something has changed, and not in the franchise itself, but around it. The topic of "vampires + werewolves" has found such a confident financial position in the world of fantasy cinema that it would be simply unwise to ignore it. The film career of the "new star" of the franchise Rona Mitra, from the third film, did not quite live up to the expectations of those who saw her in such genre films as "Werewolves" (2006), "Fatal number 23" (2007) and "Doomsday" (2008) - after the third "Another World", the actress starred in a couple of comedies and TV series, and she was clearly not going to become another action star. The Beckinsale / Speedman duo remained "in the genre" (apart they even managed to star in the almost identical thrillers "Vacancy for a Victim" and "Strangers"), although Speedman, despite the "speedy" name, clearly did not reach Beckinsale. What follows from this? Another world 4 followed, it seems, for the first time justifying its Russian-language name. It's really a different world - with a different director (even with two), a different storyline and a different set of conflicts than in the original "trilogy". In fact, the massive reboot retained only one main element - but which one: Kate Beckinsale / Celine in latex and with two pistols. This is what tradition means.

The bold script decisions that crossed out the happy ending of the sequel and allowed Celine to show not only fighting, but also maternal feelings, can only be welcomed. The relative balance of the presence of werewolves and vampires on the screen was fundamentally violated in favor of the latter, the "slowed down" Speedman is rudely, but effectively squeezed into the background of the plot (it's even funny to watch how the camera shyly avoids close-ups with the face of his character Michael, so as not to betray the substitution of the actor) , the villain, played by Englishman Bill Nighy, has been replaced by another great English actor, Stephen Rea. The main replacement, of course, is in the personality of “object number 2” - instead of a handsome superman, Celine gets a girl with a difficult fate as her on-screen companions, however, capable of crushing the enemy's skull if absolutely necessary. At the same time, the brave warrior, who has become too suspiciously reminiscent of Alice from the rival franchise "Resident Evil", immediately goes into the noble category of the mother-heroine, close in spirit to the Bride from "Kill Bill" or Ripley from "Aliens". And such, as we know, will stop a werewolf at a gallop, and enter a burning skyscraper.

And if now the appearance of “Another World 5” is only a matter of time, it’s even curious how events will develop further. A sweet girl can quickly become a burden for the plot (which, alas, was confirmed by the events of Alien 3), and the vacant position of Celine's companion, from the casting point of view, remains open (except that Speedman will miraculously return to the abandoned role). One thing is for sure - of course, latex. Well, and a couple of pistols!

After the third film - "Rise of the Lycan", where the heroine Kate Buckinsale was not there for objective reasons, 5 years after "Evolution" you can again watch the brilliant Kate! In general, the main thing on which the "Other World" saga actually revolved is on Selena and her super suit. I have already written before that as an action character she is one of the best and I want to look at her more and more.
But she is already 38 years old !!! No how to look so great at 38 ooo !!!

But if you do not look at Kate in the film - there is nothing to watch at all, honestly. The plot is terribly not thought out, in principle the same was observed in the second part. All the same, let's leave the third aside ...

Plot "Underworld: Awakening" reminds "Resident Evil: Life After Death"... in general, both sagas are similar, as there and there in Ch. roles are pretty cool women. yes, women. It's nice to see what's in the films on Ch. starring in action roles in action movies women and not men ... that women can stuff the face of a man and more than one and how. I love both sagas for that. But as Ch. the heroine - Kate Beckinsale looks cooler for me ... firstly, the atmosphere of "Another World" is more attractive to me, this gothic dark picture with vampires and terrible werewolves-lycans, and not a cloud of zombies, which are more and more aggressive from film to film and more dangerous ... in general, stylistically, the world of vampires is closer to me than the world of zombies infected with an incurable virus.
And then Selena's costume is better than Alice's costume (s) ... Tight jumpsuit with a corset, boots and a super-leather coat, from movie to movie, Selena's costume hasn't changed much, and no need, why? If he suits her so wildly ... Alice changes from film to film all the time, she does not have a single brand of style ... this is a minus. And it is worth saying that Kate's figure is better (for me) than Mila Jovovich's, she's more curvy or something ... and not as "flat" as Mila, Mila is very much a model ... and because of this Kate's suit is on sits better than if Mila would wear it ...

But unfortunately, Selena is the only thing that makes it worth watching this part of "Another World", because the rest of the characters are not interesting at all, in principle, this was known in advance, since none of the more or less famous actors ...

All right, the plot itself, but the plot holes are dragging the film lower than it could get. As an independent work, the film in this regard can be viewed positively, but as part of the saga ...

There are so many jambsthat you have to lower the mark, but you really want to put more, because stunts, special effects staged beautifully and Kate herself performs them wonderfully ...

1. Daughter Eve (Eve) - in fact, after reading the information, I already figured out where Eve came from ...but in general this question was worth $ 5 million - Where did Selena get her daughter? Well, first of all, Selena is a vampire - and according to the classical canon, vampires cannot have children, although now it does not seem to be canon see "Twilight" Why is Selena surprised when she finds out about Eve's existence?

We conclude: She did not give birth to Eve. It turns out that Eve was raised artificially in the laboratory. But again the question - even using a surrogate mother - apparently Lida - (according to the film), we return to the question - Selena is a vampire - her egg, like Michael's cells, is not alive and cannot give offspring ...

2. How did it happen that Eva was born and grew up ??? Or, after all, taking the father's side - a werewolf (and even that part), she grew up for 12 years ??? I honestly don't understand anything here.

3. Why was Selena kept in the laboratory for 12 years at all ??? if they have taken genetic material from her for a long time. After all, they needed Michael more - as a hybrid.
Either these so-called. scientists knew about the Corvinus strain that Selena from "Evolution" is endowed with more ...

4. David - a vampire tells Selena that he had heard stories about "Merchants of Death" in childhood (Def Dealers - they are so called in the film, this is a squad of vampires from the first film who fight werewolves)

Somehow very quickly people took control of vampires (I will not talk about werewolves), you can remember what happened in the first part - how the vampires were equipped, living in the coven, obviously having large cash and sunlight was never a particular problem, people were generally below the baseboard and then everything changed ...

6. Werewolves. lycans. or rather, one of them is big. Well, how can so much grow out of a person muscle mass from nowhere? like a fairytale? It is clear that he is strong, but why make a Super Hulk out of him?

7. Eve in a hybrid state does not resemble a vampire, not a werewolf, but rather a girl from "The Ring", some kind of ghost-ghost ... this is a big minus.

In general, I didn't like the idea with Selena's daughter from the very beginning. What the fuck is a daughter ???

Well about the film - the whole film is watchable, but constant questions from past episodes spoil him a lot ... Michael disappears, it would be better if his character would completely disappear altogether, it seems to me the creators hoped to persuade Scott Speedman to play this role, but having received a refusal, they decided to introduce their daughter Eve into the film - also a hybrid, because for some reason this hybrid is definitely needed for the saga of "Another World", if I were the creators of the saga - from the very beginning I would make Michael just a lycan and that's it.

By the way, "Another World 4" by the way shows for the first time that in other films about vampires it is just canon from the very beginning - vampires against people ... Here in this saga this confrontation has never been ... ", he is really different than all the other vampire films ... and even more so since there are still lycans.

Well, in general, for that matter, I think the best confrontation would be Selena vs. the strongest lycan... of the whole saga ... this is ... Lucian. After all, this was not in the first film. I'm so sorry ... especially since ex-husband... Well, now, of course, she will not meet with him at all in the same film ... after all, he planted a pig. Len Wiseman took his wife away from such a man - Michael Sheen.

I don't know how other people are, I want to see "Another World 5" and that's it. There will be "Resident Evil 5"! Why is "Other World" worse? Nothing.
