Sequence of work:
1. We use a liter jar as a container for bulk drinks. Wash it well, dry it and cover it with a lid.

We will decorate the jar using decoupage technique. We prepare the necessary materials and tools.

2. Draw a small semicircle on the jar - this will be a transparent hole through which you can see what is inside.

3. Cover the jar with white napkins or toilet paper. You can use the white part of decoupage napkins. You can also prime the jar with white gouache or acrylic paint.

9. After the paint has completely dried, cover the jar with a layer of acrylic varnish. Dry it.

The work is ready! You can fill in bulk!

10. In the same sequence we paste over the tank with poppy flowers.

Thank you for your attention! Good luck to everyone!

Any housewife in the kitchen is faced with the problem of bulk products. Where and how to store cereals are the questions that concern women in such a situation. There are many different jars for storing bulk products that can be purchased in stores where you can choose jars for cereals to suit every taste. But, as a rule, such skillfully painted items for storing spices and grains cost money, and the more interesting the jars, the more expensive the set or individual product is. In this regard, creative housewives are looking for ways to make them with their own hands.

How to make jars for cereals with your own hands

There are many different options for making bulk storage items. The simplest one is to use a regular glass bottle or jar of drinks, jams, pickles, etc. Tin jars are also perfect for these purposes.

If a woman sees in a jar only an item for storing spices and cereals, and does not particularly care about the beautiful design of the jar, then this option is perfect. However, if the housewife cares not only about convenience, but also about coziness in the kitchen, then decorating the jar is a must. This can be done at home and quite simply.

Using a glass jar, a needlewoman can beautifully decorate an object with a brush and paints, especially if a woman loves to draw and copes well with this kind of task. You can come up with a design pattern yourself, but if you don’t have enough imagination, you can always get an idea by looking at photographs of the work of craftswomen who decorate jars with paints. The colors of the patterns are usually matched to the color scheme of the kitchen itself, so that every detail of the decor is in harmony with the surrounding objects.

But not everyone has the talent for drawing, so housewives often look for simpler ways that even beginners in needlework can handle. There are many step-by-step master classes on creating jars for cereals, for which you will need certain materials. The variety of ideas of needlewomen is amazing, despite the fact that the materials used for crafts are simple, they can be found in almost any home.

DIY cereal jar from a bottle

The photo shows one of these original ways to decorate a jar for cereals and spices. To make such a jar you will need a glass bottle (juice bottle or another of the same shape), twine or similar rope, cotton wool (can be replaced with fur if there are unnecessary scraps), chestnuts, a couple of thin twigs, a transparent plastic bag and glue. The materials are easily accessible, and you don’t even have to spend money on a lot.

If the bottle has a label, you should peel it off and wrap a rope around the free space. It is best to use double-sided tape to avoid the formation of unnecessary knots that spoil the picture. You will get a kind of twine label onto which the main decorations will then be attached.

Artificial garlic used as decoration is made from cellophane and cotton wool. It is necessary to cut a square from a small transparent thin bag. Cotton wool is placed inside and wrapped in cellophane, forming a ball.

You can use white thread to create garlic cloves. It is necessary to wrap the resulting ball so that it more closely resembles real garlic. The base of the garlic head is made from buckwheat, a very small amount is enough. Several buckwheat grains are glued into the middle of the white ball.

Then the resulting garlic is attached to the rope label with glue. For decoration, a chestnut and a couple of sprigs are attached next to the head of garlic. You can decorate the label with green felt leaves.

Decorating jars using putty

Craftswomen who know how to handle putty will be able to make simple but quite elegant jars for bulk products. The jar is washed well, any labels and stickers present are peeled off, and the surface of the jar is primed. The result is a white, clean jar, onto which you will need to apply a three-dimensional pattern using putty.

Next, the needlewoman will need the base of the craft - putty, as well as a special stencil, tape, a transparent notebook cover or file, and a spatula. The stencil can be purchased at a special store. It is glued to a piece of file or cover with tape, and putty is applied on top. The stencil is immediately removed, leaving the still wet design on the film. The putty figure is applied to the jar. After holding it for a few seconds, you need to peel off the film.

After drying, the drawing can be painted in different colors. This creates an interesting three-dimensional design and decoration for a jar of bulk products.

It is not at all necessary to go to the store for new jars for storing cereals and spices. It is enough to find old jars stored in the house and decorate them beautifully. It will be doubly pleasant to use homemade jars, and even more pleasant to create them for yourself or your friends.

Video on the topic of the article

It is more difficult if the room is small - you will have to carefully consider the location of all the necessary items.

Typically, cereals take up a lot of space, and packets of spices cause chaos because they spontaneously spread over all surfaces (plus odors).

Here are our tips on this topic. Let's start from the opposite, that is, what not to do.

Where should you not store cereals and spices?

It is impossible to begin deciding on the placement of bulk products without understanding which places are best to avoid.

  • First of all, you need to remember that Storage in bags and cardboard boxes is strictly prohibited. Avoid this if you don't want .
Note: Spices also do not tolerate such storage conditions well - they quickly lose their aroma. And in general, the taste of products deteriorates if they are not stored.
  • Poor choices include drawers and shelves above the kitchen sink. High humidity promotes the formation of dampness and, as a result, mold. And if cheese with it can be considered a delicacy, then hardly anyone would consider moldy buckwheat a gourmet delicacy.
  • Storing cereals in the refrigerator is not the best option. Firstly, condensation may form there and they will become damp. Secondly, they will simply take up space there - bulk products do not need to be kept cold for preservation, just a dry place and sealed containers are enough.

Having figured out where it is better not to place cereals and spices, let's choose nine best options that will help you organize them in a small kitchen.

There are many interesting ideas for storing cereals and spices that are easy to implement with your own hands. Let's see the most original and convenient ones?

Secret sliding panel

It is not necessary to put your culinary supplies on public display - they can be disguised. For example, by building a retractable shelf into a kitchen set, which will look like an ordinary decorative panel.

This method is quite unusual, but requires significant costs: you will have to purchase a custom-made kitchen. However, the final result is worth it - few people can hold back an exclamation of surprise when they see how you take out pasta or seasonings for it from the seemingly solid wall of the set.

Hanging shelves for refrigerator

If you have easy access to the side wall of the refrigerator, a wall-mounted structure that can accommodate sealed jars for bulk products can be a great solution for a small kitchen.

This way they won’t take up precious space on the shelves, but will always be in order and in sight. This method is a kind of organizer that will greatly facilitate the search for the necessary ingredients for cooking.

Tip: For a white refrigerator, choose shelves that match the color scheme in the kitchen. If you bought a more original colored unit, choose a suspended structure in a contrasting shade.

Retro cabinet

A hanging wooden cabinet with glass doors and iron handles looks good. It fits well into a kitchen decorated in a classic style. You can arrange the drawers symmetrically, or you can arrange them in a chaotic order, alternating the sizes and colors of the doors.

This option looks impressive, but it is necessary to take into account some nuances. The first of them is price. Most likely, the cabinet will need to be custom-made to suit the color scheme of your kitchen. The second can be considered more significant - if the product is of poor quality, you will not be able to ensure the tightness of the products, which will negatively affect their shelf life and may become cause of kitchen moths.

Alchemy laboratory

Probably, almost everyone dreamed of becoming a wizard in childhood. Now you can at least partially realize your dreams! Small narrow test tubes with spices and wide flasks with cereals and pasta will look very impressive on a hanging shelf.

You can also add mystery bottles of vinegar and vegetable oils. This design looks very interesting and mysterious. However, be careful not to hang it over the stove, even if your beakers are heat-resistant: constant heating does not improve the properties of the food.

Interesting trick: Containers with glass of different colors can add originality to an already interesting idea. If you decide to place vegetable oils on this shelf, make them aromatic - add herbs or berries to them. This will make your shelf look even more like the shelf of a wise wizard.

Hanging stand

Containers hung by strong hooks on a metal or wooden sheet on the wall look non-standard. You may have to make it protruding in order to organically place containers with cereals. It is better to choose oblong narrow containers.

When using this design technique, you must take into account that it looks best in kitchens decorated in a modern style. In addition, it will be difficult to arrange containers of different sizes beautifully - it may be better to use the method only for cereals or spices. In this case, it is better to come up with another option for the second type of product.

Magnetic board

This storage method is more suitable for spices - after all, large containers will look a little strange, and placing small containers on the board is much easier.

The essence of the technique is quite simple: A canvas with magnetic properties is attached to the wall in a convenient place. Then small jars with metal lids or magnets on the walls are selected. Then everything is simple: attach them in a random or strictly defined order, depending on your taste.

It is not necessary to purchase special containers for this. Clean jars of tick-tock dragees, signed in a beautiful font, look original. Simply attach a ribbon with an inscription to one part and a small magnet to the other.

For a large kitchen: If you want to use this technique for cereals, you will need a lot of space, a magnetic board and stronger magnets. Select containers that are not too heavy and think about the location so that it is convenient for you to reach each jar.

Rack with pull-out shelves

A small narrow cabinet with pull-out shelves will also look original. You can see these in the supermarket. Make several large drawers for cereals and pasta, a couple of smaller ones for coffee and tea, and very tiny ones for spices.

Such a cabinet, especially if it is designed to match a kitchen set, will look organic. Pull-out shelves make it easier to find the products you need and organize the arrangement of products.

If you are not a fan of large stocks, you can make such a rack in the form of a small decorative cabinet placed on the kitchen panel or built into the set. In any case, such shelves are convenient and easy to implement.

As a decor for the kitchen

Love a rustic-style space? Then post beautiful jars for spices, cereals, tea and coffee on small open shelves. Choose cute lids for them - for example, wrapped in fabric. It is not necessary to buy them identical: on the contrary, different ones, but decorated in the same style, will look better.

Do not place more than two or three containers on one shelf - this creates an overloaded effect and does not look as impressive as five or six shelves with several cans.

As for the sizes, also show your imagination - select containers of different sizes, but of the same shape. In this case, the kitchen will not look boring, but you will be able to avoid clumsiness.

Interesting addition: Don't try to place the spices like this. Small, lightweight jars are difficult to keep organized on an open shelf. It's better to place them in a small wall basket. Alternatively, it can be hung from one of the shelves. Just make sure the fasteners are strong enough.

Drawers

Probably, almost everyone has seen racks for selling tea and coffee - a large number of small sealed boxes with transparent side doors.

You can allocate a separate area in the kitchen for such tanks, or you can order an original kitchen set, where such tanks are installed in any order. This will add originality to the kitchen and will look like an original design technique.

The price for such a set will be high, but the final result will please any lover of original furniture.

However, there is one caveat. If you are not particularly careful, you will have to refuse this option. You will have to be careful to keep the clear doors clean and the containers full. Half-empty, they will not look so aesthetically pleasing.

As you can see, there are many ideas that completely refute the standard ideas about how you can store spices and bulk products in the kitchen. We tried to collect the most original solutions for you, but this does not mean that you should limit yourself exclusively to them.

You can use one of our ideas for storing cereals and dried herbs, or you can come up with your own based on them. Don’t be afraid to experiment with interior design - perhaps you will be the one who can say a new word in kitchen design.

If you want to decorate jars for bulk products or cereals, it won’t take much time. You can use any containers: glass or metal, as long as they open easily. I had a huge amount of baby food jars left over, which I decided to decorate and use to store cereals. For work you will need: PVA glue, scissors, quick-hardening white paint (sold in cans), magazine clippings with images of dishes, varnish (in a can) and the container itself that we will decorate.

1. Wash the jar well and wipe it dry.
2. Using a spray can, apply the first layer of white paint. We wait for the surface to dry and apply the second layer. This procedure is necessary so that the original image located on the can does not show through through the pictures we have pasted. If the surface of the container you have chosen is plain, light, without any patterns, then you can skip this step.

3. Cut out the types of dishes you like from the magazine. You can choose themed pictures for each jar. For example: to store buckwheat, you can cut out images of dishes using this grain.

4. Lubricate the surface of the jar well with PVA glue and glue the cut out pictures one by one. First we glue the large pictures, then the small ones. It is very important to smooth the image well during gluing to remove all air bubbles. Then the pasted picture will look good.
5. Wait for the jar to dry completely.

6. Open the surface of the jar with varnish. We do this in two stages. Let the varnish dry between them. We do this procedure very carefully so that the varnish does not get on the inner surface of the dishes and does not come into contact with the products in the future. If you doubt your “accuracy,” then simply fill the jar with newspapers, and after opening the container, you can remove them with varnish.

Updating your kitchen interior is not that difficult, and you don’t have to spend money on new furniture or luxurious curtains. You can create items with your own hands that will serve as an interesting and original decoration for any kitchen. In this case, decoupage of cans will come to the rescue. There are different types of this needlework, and the ideas and their implementation depend on the imagination of the author.

Preparatory work and necessary materials

Decoupage of jars - metal, plastic, ceramic, tin, glass, wood - can be easily mastered by anyone, and you can do amazing things with your own hands. For beginning craftsmen, there are simple techniques that are accessible even to children with creative skills. The master class below can help with this.

First you need to decide which jar will be processed, since for tin, for example, one type of processing will be relevant, and for glass – another.

The mandatory material that will be needed first of all will be all kinds of pictures. You can use napkins, rice paper, decoupage cards, as well as images from magazines and photos. The images can be very diverse depending on the purpose for which the jars are intended - for bulk products, for tea, for cookies, for chips.

You can make original containers for storing anything, even cream. For example, original small containers for storing spices can be made from small baby food jars in which various fruit and vegetable purees are sold.

Tools you will definitely need include:

  • scissors (necessarily sharp);
  • a small roller for applying paint and a sponge;
  • several brushes of different sizes;
  • decoupage glue or PVA;
  • special varnish or regular varnish for various surfaces.

In addition, decorative elements that may be used to decorate the products will be useful: ribbons, ropes, pebbles, beads, buttons, and the like.

The choice of these items will be prompted by imagination based on the conceived idea that is to be implemented.

Varieties

There is direct and reverse decoupage. It is very simple to understand how one species differs from another. Direct is the one that is done on the surface of the object, and the reverse is located inside. But if a straight line can be made on almost any surface, then an internal one can only be made on a glass object or transparent plastic, since it should be visible. The advantage of a transparent container is that you can use both types of decoupage, which will look equally good.

Direct decoupage involves first priming the surface, then sticking the selected picture. After this, the finishing touches are made, if you need to paint on something, make a background. And the last stage is coating the product with varnish.

In reverse decoupage, the front part of the picture is processed with glue and glued to the inside of the jar. Then the surface needs to be varnished.

Instructions for Beginners

It is enough to study the whole process step by step once, and then you can make any simple option. For more complex ones you need practice, and over time you will get better.

To take the first step in this exciting procedure, just prepare pictures or napkins, acrylic paint, and glue. You can buy special glue for decoupage. In addition, you will need a brush and sandpaper.

  • First of all, the object on which the pictures will be applied is well prepared. The jar needs to be washed and dried well. At the last stage, it can be treated with a cotton pad soaked in alcohol or cologne.
  • Next you need to prepare a picture. There are different ways to do this. If this is a napkin, then it is already quite thin. You just need to cut out the design or carefully tear it off. Provided that the image is on thick paper, you only need to get the top layer. To do this, you can moisten the paper with water and very carefully separate the top layer. In the second option, you should stick a wide tape on the back side so that it covers the entire surface, and then carefully separate the corner and remove the part with the tape, leaving the upper thin surface with the pattern.
  • Glue is applied to the prepared surface, then a picture is applied and straightened, on top of which glue is also applied.
  • After half an hour, the entire surface is varnished. After an hour, when the varnish has dried, the procedure can be repeated.

The more layers the better. This is the simplest option.

The more complex one involves a number of steps.

  • The prepared glass jar (clean and dry) is coated with any paint depending on what design is intended. This can be a monochrome version, and then the picture is chosen in one color, and the background is selected to match it, or it can be a bright composition, where a contrasting picture stands out against the background.
  • To do this, the selected jar is coated, for example, with black acrylic paint. Allow it to dry.
  • After this, they go over the surface with sandpaper. This is required if you want to give the item an aging effect.
  • The picture is prepared in any convenient way, after which it is placed on the surface of the jar using glue.
  • The finishing touch is varnishing in several layers.
  • If you have additional thoughts on decoration, you can add decorative elements. For example, decorate a jar with satin ribbons or simple rope, depending on the chosen style.

Some needlewomen use the technique using eggshells. The jar acquires the effect of antiquity; it is better to choose an appropriate picture too, so that it does not go out of style. It may be worth taking a closer look at decoupage cards that have various images, or finding suitable pictures yourself and printing them.

  • First, the surface of the jar is also thoroughly cleaned and degreased.
  • The selected picture is pasted. If necessary, a background is made first.
  • While the image dries, wash and dry the shell pieces.
  • The next stage is labor-intensive, but the result is worth it. Pieces can be glued by helping to distribute them over the surface with tweezers.
  • Next, paint is most often applied to the shell, so the jar will look more impressive.
  • And the final stage is varnishing in several layers. The exclusive item is ready.

As additional decor, needlewomen use any small objects - beads, rhinestones, small stones, shells, ribbons, sequins, buttons. Each style has its own additional touches. The main thing is not to overdo it with additional elements.

A simple decoupage of cans for bulk products is presented in the following video.

There are many ways to turn an old, unnecessary jar into an amazingly beautiful and functional thing. You can make quite nice decorative elements from ordinary tin cans.

But before painting, applying designs and decorating with additional elements, you need to remove sharp edges - using ordinary pliers, or by gluing a rubber wire.
