How to build a house from two construction cabins. Projects of houses from construction trailers. DIY change house. How to increase the service life of a cabin

This model of a country house harmoniously combines aesthetic appearance, thoughtful design and functionality. A prefabricated house made from cabins is an ideal solution for spending the night at the dacha; it has enough space not only for the family, but also for friends or relatives. The house was built using frame technology from two wooden cabins with an attached open veranda. The internal layout can be made according to your own drawings - choose a standard design or order the installation of partitions, dividing the common space into isolated rooms. A large open veranda is located at the front of the house - during the hot summer months it will become a favorite place to relax and socialize. The manufacturer’s website presents a project for a prefabricated house of cabins with a veranda measuring 6x6.9 meters, but if you wish, you can build a country house according to your own sketches. The cabins and veranda are delivered to the site ready-made - the entire installation process takes one business day.

The strength of the garden house is given by a frame made of dried timber. The exterior and interior of the premises are finished with pine lining. The inner layer of insulation in combination with the windproof film creates an ideal microclimate inside the building. The roof of the building is gable; waterproof roofing material is used as roofing material. With proper assembly and timely maintenance, modular houses from cabins serve their owners for two to three decades.

Five reasons to buy a prefabricated house from cabins for your dacha:

  1. A quick solution to the “housing issue” - from the moment the application is processed until the house is installed on the site, no more than a week passes;
  2. There is no need to pour a foundation: the cabins are installed on concrete blocks buried in the ground;
  3. Affordable price: buying a garden house with a veranda will cost several times less than building a permanent house;
  4. The manufacturing company’s specialists assemble turnkey country houses; you can spend the night in them on the day of installation;
  5. A large selection of sizes, designs and configurations of country houses from cabins on the manufacturer’s website to suit any requests and financial capabilities of clients.

Three years ago, we built a house from cabins on our site. And today I want to tell you what its advantages and disadvantages are, so that you understand how suitable this option is for you.

My mother-in-law’s house is built on a strip foundation, the house itself is made of foam blocks. So there was an opportunity to compare both options.

A house made from cabins has many advantages over a regular house, but there are also disadvantages.

1. So, the first main difference in construction is, of course, the foundation. For an ordinary house, it is necessary to build a foundation. At best, solid, in extreme cases - tape, but still. This is extra time and money. If you decide to build a house from cabins, then the foundation can be several concrete stones that will serve as supports.

Then, after building the house, you can “finish the foundation” and fill in the through holes between the supporting stones with bricks or stones. And that's not necessary. In fact, a house made from cabins does not need a foundation. He needs support. This provides a lot of benefits. In addition to saving time and money, this also makes it possible to install it on difficult soil or terrain, using piles, for example.

2. But there is also a minus. Difficulties in bringing water into the house. If you only use the house in the summer, these difficulties do not arise. But if you need to live in winter, then, since the house does not stand clearly on the ground, but as if above the ground, then a hose or pipe inserted into the house from a well or well at the place where it comes out of the ground and enters the house , finds himself on a bare street. And accordingly, it will be necessary to do additional insulation. And the sewer drain should also have additional insulation. This needs to be thought through in advance, before construction.

3. The simplest and ideal option: order a change house with delivery. But this is not possible in all places. Travel conditions required. So if your site is not located “next to the road”, bringing a change house will be problematic. But you can use an alternative method - order the construction of a household house on site. In this case, all the components will be brought to you and the house will be built on site. This is how it happened for us.

4. The main thing that distinguishes a domestic house from an ordinary one is the presence of a metal frame. Again, it has both pros and cons. The main advantages of the frame are that in the end you get a whole house. It can be lifted, jacked up in order to substitute, for example, additional supports if they have sagged. Transport it to another place if necessary.

He doesn't "spread" to the sides. Those. the frame gives enormous additional strength and “composure”. This is especially important in places of possible seismic activity. But here, in SNT near Moscow, houses settle, “walk”, as the soil moves, albeit imperceptibly, and plus, the influence of the change of seasons. After winter the soil expands; after summer, on the contrary, it contracts. The frame also expands imperceptibly, but this does not destroy it.

5. But the frame also has disadvantages. It's that it's metal, no matter how funny it sounds. Creates an electromagnetic field if a high-voltage power grid passes nearby. Many people believe that this field is bad for health. I did not notice any negative effects on myself, but I noticed that the compass needle shows a completely unrealistic position of the cardinal points when you place it in places next to the frame, namely, closer to the walls.

And one more disadvantage: this is the peculiarity of metal structures to reflect the low tones of music. Therefore, in the corners you can hear sounds from the far ends of our SNT. But this can be solved with additional interior decoration.

6. Walls. In an ordinary house, the walls are built of brick, foam blocks, concrete, wood (logs or timber). In the change house, the walls are made of metal or wooden sheathing, onto which a corrugated sheet is attached to the outside. We built on a wooden frame. It is cheaper than metal and has less magnetic fields. The most important advantage of such a building is that the corrugated sheet does not crack like concrete or brick due to changes in temperature and time of year.

You can also always unscrew the profiled sheet and screw another one, which is difficult to do with bricks or foam blocks. Or you can even remove a wall and make, for example, an additional room, without destroying the entire house, but only by dismantling one wall. And this will not affect the strength of the house in any way. These are the advantages of both the walls and the frame, naturally.

Many of my friends first bought one change house, and then it grew to the size of a huge house. It is also possible to add additional cabins even after construction is completed. The profiled sheet itself has a rather beautiful appearance; now they produce models in different colors to suit every taste. If you don’t like it, you can cover it with siding, and then from the outside it won’t be clear at all that the house is made of cabins.

7. Disadvantages of corrugated sheets. The main minus is combined with a plus. This is because it heats up in the sun. In the summer this is, of course, a minus. But it can be solved by having enough windows. But in February this is a huge plus. The house begins to warm up on its own. And therefore the house needs to be heated less. The only thing is that you need to carefully choose the insulation so that it is not “flammable”. We were afraid to use polystyrene foam precisely because it could be melted by a corrugated sheet heated in the sun. Although, perhaps, everything is not so scary. But we decided to play it safe and used 10 cm thick mineral wool, since we needed a winter house.

8. Another disadvantage of profiled sheeting is that, of course, unlike brick, foam block and logs, it has neither thermal insulation nor sound insulation. Therefore, in any case, you need to sheathe it with mineral wool and do the interior finishing - lining, OSB, plasterboard or plastic.

9. Galvanized bottom. This is not included in the standard cabin, but it can be ordered during its construction. But when building an ordinary house, this is more difficult to do, because there is no frame on which the bottom will rest. In an ordinary house, a lattice is made, which is filled with concrete. The main difference between concrete and galvanized bottom is that concrete cracks, but zinc does not, and mice chew through concrete. The galvanized bottom is not accessible to mouse teeth. The floor will still be laid on top of the zinc according to all the rules, with insulation min. Cotton wool, so that this galvanized bottom will not affect the floor any warmer.

10. Roof. In an ordinary house, the room under the roof is always an attic, i.e. not exactly a living space, but for a special purpose. In a house made of cabins, the top floor does not have an attic appearance. There is a full floor with a roof parallel to the floor. And an additional roof with an obtuse angle is placed on top of it to drain rain. This gives more living real space. Usually the roof is also made from corrugated sheet metal. In an ordinary house, the roof is one of the most expensive things. Since bulky beams are used there. And, again, due to the frame, large beams are not needed on the roof of a cabin house, so its cost is quite adequate for the cabin itself.

11. Size restrictions. The only strict limitation that will need to be observed is the size. The cabins are made in standard sizes, their height is no higher than 250 cm (and minus the insulation thickness of 230 cm), and the length and width are also standard. The width is also 250 cm, and the most popular length is 6 m, there are also 3 m and 9 m. But 3 m is not enough for a home, and 9 m is a non-standard length, it is more expensive for delivery. Accordingly, a house made from change houses is a constructor made from such blocks.

You can end up with a house of 5 m * 6 m (5 = 2.5 * 2). And this is the size of full-fledged standard garden “Ordinary” houses. Well, how you “compose” and how many blocks will fit into your home - it depends only on your imagination and the budget you are counting on. Those. Although there is quite a large choice of what size to make the house, there are still restrictions. When building an ordinary house, there are basically no such restrictions.

12. The height of the ceilings is no more than 2.5 m. Theoretically, it can be made higher, but this must be agreed upon in advance with the company, and accordingly there will be costs in price. And then it will definitely have to be built on site. If the change house is transported ready-made, then it definitely won’t work higher, because the height of the car when driving under, for example, bridges, should not exceed 3.5 m. But this also has its advantages. Such a room is much easier to heat than one with high ceilings.

13. Number of floors. The structure of cabins cannot exceed 3 floors, otherwise an additional reinforced frame and a real foundation are needed. And then, it will no longer be a “house of change houses”, but a full-fledged metal structure. We built a two-story house, and even with all the restrictions on ceiling height, it turned out to be a little higher than an ordinary one-story house with an attic. So the benefits of space are obvious.

14. In terms of cost, a house made from cabins is cheaper than an ordinary house. Two carriages 6*2.5 (i.e. 6*5 in total) with a beautiful colored professional sheet (not galvanized), with a separate pitched roof, with two windows, with a metal door, 10 cm mineral wool insulation (winter version) on all walls, floor and ceiling, with the simplest interior finishing (linoleum, ordinary board “not lining”), will cost you from 300 to 500 thousand rubles. This is all together, including delivery.

We built it 3 years ago (in 2013), and not even from 6 m blocks, but two 9 m cars; it was also complicated by the fact that we ordered them to be placed not next to each other, but on top of each other, because We have a small plot, and all together it cost us about 300 thousand rubles. Now, of course, prices have risen, but if you don’t bother with 9-meter carriages and two-story buildings, and get by with 6-meter ones, then I think you can spend 300–500 thousand without any problems.

Ordinary houses, as a rule, only start with these amounts, and then with insulation and finishing they cost an average of a million rubles. Moreover, payment often occurs in installments. For the household house, we immediately agreed on the price and wrote it down in the contract. They paid a small advance and the rest upon delivery of the house. No additional payments were added during construction.

15. For heating. The beauty of our household house is its tightness. Therefore, heating it is not difficult. You can install a stove-stove, you can use gas heaters, but personally I chose (ceiling) for heating. In my opinion, these are the most economical electric heaters. In autumn and spring, the house is heated by approximately 1.5 kWh (30 square meters). In winter it sometimes reaches up to 3 kW/h if it’s frosty.

16. In conclusion. We ordered the construction of a house from cabins on site, and within a month it was absolutely ready. In my opinion, this is the most profitable of all budget options for building houses. Despite its apparent simplicity, it turns out to be quite attractive and functional.

Many people have summer cottages outside the city, but not all of them are equipped for living. Some use the land as a vegetable garden, while others are just planning to build a house on it. But coming to the dacha in the morning and then leaving in the evening back to the city is not convenient for everyone, and sometimes you don’t even want to. After all, spending time away from the bustle of the city, enjoying fresh air and birdsong in the garden is a pleasure.

But to come to the dacha and stay there for a while, you will need shelter. The construction of a full-fledged residential building will take a lot of time and money, but equipping a small country house from a change house will appeal to every owner of a country plot of land.

A house from a change house can become either a permanent place of residence in a country house during the warm season, or temporary while a full-fledged residential building is being built. It is worth noting that you can live in a change house throughout the entire calendar year if you equip it with heating, electricity and water supply. And after the construction of the cottage is completed, the change house can be sold or left as a utility room. Read more about what a change house is, what it is made of and how such a country house is used in our article.

Types of cabins

Manufacturers offer a fairly wide range of cabins that can be equipped with everything necessary for both permanent and temporary residence. According to their purpose, cabins are divided into:

    intended for country utility premises;

    residential cabins for temporary residence of workers or the owner himself.

    can play the role of a manager’s or foreman’s office.

Change houses also come in construction, country and block containers, and according to their design they are divided into:

    frame.

  • lumber.

Most often, the cabins are manufactured at the factory and if you decide to order them, they will be delivered by truck already assembled. As for the dimensions of the cabins, they are calculated so that the structure can easily fit into the back of a truck or trailer.

Features of block containers

For some reason, the very word “container” is immediately associated with metal and the idea appears that it will be very hot in the summer and cold in the winter. But not all containers are metal; moreover, their walls and ceilings are insulated and finished both inside and outside. Manufacturers of modular containers take utmost care to ensure that the use of such cabins is as comfortable as possible.

Metal container block used as a utility unit Source www.remontnik.ru

As mentioned above, block containers are not only made of metal, they are also made of wood. Metal structures are most often used as construction cabins, the standard dimensions of which are 2.5x6 m, and the ceiling height is 2.2 m. As has already become clear, the frame of such cabins consists of metal, the outside of the structure is finished with galvanized corrugated sheets, and the inside is covered with dry wooden paneling , PVC panels or fiberboard, MDF paneling or hardboard. Mineral wool is used as insulation. The doors of the cabin are made of fiberboard, and the windows, measuring 1x1.2 m, are equipped with double glazed windows. Buyers are given the opportunity to install partitions in the change house to create several rooms.

Manufacturers of metal block containers provide a five-year warranty on the operation of the cabin.

People most often buy a residential trailer made of wood when they are going to build a summer house or to live in them on a country plot during the warm season during vacation. Therefore, such cabins are also called “country houses”. Wooden block containers are also used as utility units, summer kitchens, or equipped with everything necessary for year-round living.

Wood structures are much warmer and lighter than metal ones. Wooden lining is used as finishing both outside and inside. As for the dimensions of the cabin and the size of the windows, they are the same for metal and wooden block containers.

Block containers can be used for more than fifteen years. Entire modular houses are built from such cabins by connecting them together and removing partitions. And if you put the structures on top of each other, you will get a two-story house.

Country cabins

Like block containers, country cabins are made of metal and wood.

The latter are best used for living in the warm season, and metal cabins are excellent for year-round use. Metal structures, thanks to corrugated sheeting, better withstand changes in weather conditions.

The interior of the country cabins is finished with fiberboard or wooden lining. The latter finishing option is more suitable for permanent residence. Country cabins have separate rooms, a utility block, a toilet and a shower, and this is their main feature.

Source extended-rds.org

Wooden country houses, in turn, are divided into frame, panel and timber.

Panel dacha cabins

The cheapest type of wooden country house is a panel house. Such structures are not designed for long-term use, but due to their low cost they are in great demand among summer residents during the construction of a house. For the exterior finishing of panel structures, they do not use solid lining, but the inside of the walls is sheathed with fiberboard.

Foam plastic or glass wool is used as insulation. The floor in the cabin is made of planks, 21 mm thick, and the roof is iron. Country panel houses are highly susceptible to changes in geometric dimensions, since their design does not provide stiffening ribs.

Source assz.ru

Frame-type country cabins

The most optimal option in terms of price and quality is a frame country house. A wooden beam measuring 50x50 mm is used as a base, giving the structure stability and the ability to withstand loads.

The final cost of a frame cabin depends on the material used for interior and exterior decoration. Manufacturers offer a choice of fiberboard, plywood or lining.

Important! The most expensive finishing option is lining, which, if the cabin shrinks, does not swell or bulge like other materials, which also absorb moisture well and change their geometric dimensions.

The floor in the frame change house is double - consists of rough and finishing floor boards measuring 32 mm. A layer of mineral wool 50 mm thick is used as insulation for walls, floors and ceilings. The structure also has a vapor barrier - glassine or polyethylene film.

Summer cottages made of timber

The most expensive, but at the same time more durable, is a country house made of coniferous timber measuring 100x150 mm. Wall decoration in this design is usually not provided, and the ceiling, doors and internal partitions of the country house are made of lining. Manufacturers offer to choose the type of roof - single- or double-slope, but the first is usually used for buildings up to 5 m.

If a log cabin is installed in an area where the winter air temperature does not drop below -10 degrees, then you can do without additional insulation of the structure, but only on the condition that the production process was not disrupted during the manufacture of temporary housing. If the timber is tightly laid and secured with metal staples, and the seams are insulated with tow or flax, only in this case can you count on high strength and heat retention inside the room.

How change houses are equipped for a residential building

For a comfortable stay, cabins made from cabins are equipped with all necessary communications, divide the total area into rooms, and connect several cabins into one solid structure. Minimum number of rooms in a country house:

  • kitchen;
  • bedroom;
  • bathroom;
  • utility block

A bedroom in a country house can be equipped with a ceiling Source mebel-go.ru

If more than two people live in a cabin, then due to limited space, bunk beds are installed in the bedroom; for this, a room width of 2.5 meters is quite sufficient. Country houses made from cabins must be connected to the following communications:

  • electricity;
  • water supply;
  • sewerage

To eliminate the occurrence of emergency situations, communications must be connected by specialists.

In a country house, it is necessary to make heating out of the change house, which is often a conventional solid fuel stove. If there is a backup source of electricity in case of a power outage, then the shed should be heated using electric heaters.

It is possible to install a hot water boiler and a radiator system. This option is especially convenient when the house is built from two or more cabins. In this case, one boiler is sufficient, in which the heated coolant will be transferred through pipes to the combined rooms.

The advantage of using several cabins on the site is the possibility of combining them with each other without compromising strength.

The use of two cabins, which are installed at a distance of 3 m from each other, can significantly increase the living space of the house. When equipping such a country house, you can accommodate significantly more people due to the fact that the kitchen and bathroom will be equipped in a separate shed.

To ensure that the space between the containers is also used for its intended purpose, two walls are made that will unite the cabins, and a common roof is mounted on top. Thus, the house turns out to be quite suitable for living throughout the year.

The space between the cabins can be used not only for living, but also for placing a car. In this case, instead of one wall connecting the cabins, it is necessary to install a gate. Also, the middle part can be used as a storage room or workshop.

Variants of houses from cabins - photo examples

When choosing a house from cabins, you can go through projects endlessly, especially if you want something original and comfortable. Manufacturers of cabins offer consumers a huge number of different functional options for country houses, from standard to large and two-tiered. If you order several cabins at once to furnish one house, you will be offered many ready-made solutions for connecting them.

Conclusion

Cabin houses are very popular. Firstly, this is an inexpensive and convenient option for temporary residence, housing workers, equipping a summer kitchen in a private household or utility room. Secondly, several cabins make quite original houses for permanent residence. And most importantly, the cabins are mobile; if you need to move your cabin to another site or even to another city, this is easy to do by hiring a truck.

A change house, by its definition, is not a “forever” acquisition, but a temporary one. Often such structures accompany global buildings. But, as they say in popular wisdom, there is nothing more permanent than temporary. And then a simple change house is no longer perceived as a temporary shelter, but a real country house.

It’s good for those who decided right away that a change house was enough for him to give. You can dream of a full-fledged home, but not be interrupted by the lack of furnishings in the cabin: it is interesting and useful to make a cozy country house out of it with your own hands.

What types of cabins are there?

The choice today is not so scarce; you can find a housing option that can be modestly and as succinctly equipped as possible for temporary living. You can not limit yourself to this pass-through option, but purchase a change house that will turn into a real country house. Yes, a small but large dacha is, rather, a wish rather than a strict condition for a country home.

The cabins are divided into the following options:

  • intended for country utility premises;
  • residential, in which workers or the owner are temporarily located;
  • as an office for the construction manager.

Finally, there are construction cabins, country cabins, and also a group called block containers. Structurally, they can be panel, timber, frame. Although not the most respectable buildings in appearance, if they are properly decorated, they turn into cozy country houses. They can be equipped with a mini-bathroom and zoned inside.

Not all containers are strictly metal, although the word itself is associated with this material. The walls and ceiling of modern cabins of this type are insulated and finished on all sides. Metal structures are used for construction, but wooden ones are easier to convert into a country house. Some people use the wooden version as a utility room, others as a summer kitchen, but many live in them for the entire summer season.

It’s easy to guess that wooden structures are warmer and weigh less than metal ones. Both outside and inside they are decorated with wooden lining. The dimensions and sizes of windows for both metal and wooden household structures are the same.

The service life of the block container is 15 years.

Moreover, craftsmen even build modular houses from these structures, connecting them to each other, removing partitions. If you think through the project, involve specialists or simply experienced people in the project, you can get a two-story structure with a terrace.

Special dacha structures can be wooden or metal. The inside can be finished with classic wooden lining or fiberboard, which is cheaper. If we talk about lining, then a change house finished with it will be more suitable for living. If you purchase a ready-made country house, then it will include a room, and even a toilet, shower, and utility unit.

There are different options for country cabins.

  • Shield ones. The cheapest houses are not designed for long-term use, but their owners often purchase them as a temporary shelter while the main house is being built. For the exterior finishing of such structures, lining is usually used; the inside walls are sheathed with fiberboard. The insulation is glass wool or polystyrene foam.

  • Frame. More expensive than the previous option, but also stronger. The basis is a wooden beam, which makes the structure stable. Interior and exterior decoration differ in the options offered - from fiberboard and plywood to lining. The floor in a frame building is usually double, consisting of two types of boards - rough and finishing. Mineral wool was chosen as insulation.

  • Timber. The most expensive option for a country house. The walls are traditionally unfinished, but the doors, ceiling and partitions inside the room are lined with clapboard. The roof can be single-pitched or gable.

When you decide on the type and purchase your own cabin, ideas for its design will become relevant. After all, it is the arrangement, thoughtful interior, decor, and not just the interior and exterior decoration that turn the “box” into a country house.

Site preparation

These are mandatory actions, and they are needed so that a real swamp does not form under the cabin. Plant and animal remains can rot in the fertile soil layer, and this cannot be allowed. If the change house is already standing and has been lived in, it is extremely difficult to remove rotting products.

Features of the internal arrangement

Experienced people, using the example of their successes and failures, can tell what mistakes can be avoided when converting a change house into a garden or country house. But you don’t have to go through the entire construction experience yourself; you can use ready-made little tricks.

  • If you increase the size of the windows, the issue with illumination will be resolved; in a bright room everything looks more solid. Sliding structures are also used in country houses, which simultaneously serve as both a window and a door.

  • If the change house has a flat ceiling, you can organize the second floor there according to the principle of a bunk bed. By the way, it is usually organized for a sleeping place.

  • Saves space and builds a bed on a dresser. The chest of drawers itself can be made quite tall and roomy. Built-in furniture is a common solution in a country house, because it should be as functional as possible.

  • If you know that guests may come to your place, and even spend the night, you can attach hammock mounts to the wall ahead of time. At the right time, you simply take it out and hang it up. If the cabin is spacious enough, then a hammock, bright and colorful, can simply decorate its interior.

  • If you extend the width of the window sill, you can get a miniature kitchen table. Make shelves and doors underneath for kitchen utensils.

  • Nail narrow shelves on the walls for decoration. Vases, books, ceramics, toys - anything that makes the space cute and cozy. Some things migrate from a city apartment to a dacha and take on a new life there.

  • If you have a full-fledged kitchen or dining table, you can make a beautiful textile lampshade for the lamp above it. It will be very atmospheric and will definitely suit the country style.

  • If you decorate all the surfaces of the shed with the same material, this will erase the boundaries between them - visually the room will look more spacious.

  • You shouldn’t build bulky partitions in your shed if you can hang beautiful curtains. And the boho style, which appeals to this decision, is in fashion today.

But the best examples are visuals, photos and illustrations that more eloquently show how other people were able to make a beautiful country house out of an ordinary cabin. And this country house is attractive not only from the outside, but also from the inside.

Successful examples

If the example cannot be used in its entirety, then even some of the details in it can be “grabbed” as an idea that will take root in your country house.

10 interiors of cabins that have become beautiful country houses.

  • Wooden trim inside makes the house cozy and bright. This house has one sleeping place, but it is possible that there is a transformable surface or even a bed against a short wall. The owners also took care of the decor.

  • In this case, the owners of a small country house have equipped it with a spacious bedroom. The shed has enough windows to provide good natural light to the room.

  • A bed under the ceiling - it can be like this. On particularly hot days, the presence of stuffiness cannot be ruled out, but it is not at all necessary that this will be the case. In any case, I would like to note the rational use of space.

  • Well zoned, small, cozy room. There are at least 2 sleeping places. The kitchen looks quite spacious, and the dining table has been moved to the living area.
